After saving his home from a historic wildfire that destroyed his hometown, a man in rural Northern California opens his doors to families and neighbors with nowhere else to go. Over time, a revolving household takes shape—families, friends, dogs—bound together by necessity and choice. Filmed over five years, STRAY EMBERS captures the loving bonds and inevitable tensions that arise when a community tries to remain rooted in a place that has already burned, and may do so again.
